Ash Wednesday……

Hello Families,

Today is Ash Wednesday and this week marks the beginning of the most important time in our liturgical calendar as we prepare to begin Lent. Pope Francis has shared that…..

“Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we shall reap our harvest,
if we do not give up. So then, while we have the opportunity,
let us do good to all” (Gal 6:9-10)

Let us keep the people of the Ukraine in our thoughts and prayers and hope for a peaceful resolution.

This week we provided pancakes for all to celebrate Shrove Tuesday. We will gather Wednesday afternoon for an Ash Wednesday liturgy.

Let the time of Lent be a time for us all to pray, fast, and give alms as our world continues to suffer from the pandemic, war, and unrest.

Lenten Prayer:

Almighty and Everlasting God,
You have given the human race
Jesus Christ our Savior as a model of humility.
He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Human
And giving His life on the Cross.
Help us to bear witness to You
By following His example of suffering
And make us worthy to share in His Resurrection.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son.

Amen.

Shrove Tuesday Pancakes…..

Phoenix Families,

We have a special pancake treat for the student today at about 10:00, as we prepare for Ash Wednesday, and the beginning of Lent. We thank our Catholic Advisory Council for making this happen today.

Be well,

St. Anne School Team

Donations – Earthquake in Turkey and Syria…

From the office of the Director of Education, Tyrone Dowling

As many of you know, WCDSB has a long tradition of fundraising to assist relief efforts when natural disasters strike.

The devastation of the recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria has once again called us to action.

While rescue and recovery efforts continue, it has already been confirmed that more than 35,000 people have died.

Many thousands more — including many current refugees — are in desperate need of shelter, food, clean water, and medicine.

Consequently, the Senior Team and Board of Trustees would like to invite all WCDSB students and staff to participate in a centralized fundraising campaign via the Canadian Red Cross (operating under the umbrella of the International Red Cross).

Donations of ANY AMOUNT will support the range of emergency services the Red Cross is delivering to those in need including interim housing, clothing, food, and other essential supplies.

All fundraising efforts will be collected centrally using the following link:

Dance-A-Thon Fundraiser Thank You…

Hello Phoenix Families,

We would like to express our thanks and gratitude to the entire community. Support for the school fundraiser was incredible. We had a great day on the 14th at the dance and yesterday was so much fun as we announced the raffle basket winners and the top pledge winners in our assembly.

Our Catholic School Advisory Council (CSAC) worked so very hard with planning and organizing this event. With over $17000 raised, this has been our most successful fundraisers in years.

We are blessed to be part of such an amazing community.
